controller with the feedback signal of the stroke position of the control valve, and outputs different air pressure signals to the actuator according to the comparison result. For the output signal of any
controller, the position of the valve can be guaranteed, and it can overcome the influence of the pressure difference of the valve, the friction of the valve stem and the change of the diaphragm damping. According to the NAMUR standard, whether it is pillar-mounted or yoke-mounted, mounting accessories are provided with each

The EP5
positioner is a two-wire loop-powered
positioner that requires a 4-20mA control signal for linear pneumatic valve actuators. The
positioner compares the signal from the
controller with the actual position of the valve and changes the pneumatic output signal of the actuator accordingly. It can maintain the required valve position for any control signal, and at the same time can overcome the effects of changes in pressure difference, valve stem friction and hysteresis. The mounting kit provided with this
positioner complies with pillar or yoke mounting according to NAMUR standard.
How does the Spirax Sarco ISP5
positioner work?
The work of Spirax Sarco EP5 is based on the principle of balance of forces, which is achieved by a nozzle / baffle mechanism and a feedback spring. The electrical signal from the
controller is converted into a proportional pressure signal. The pressure signal acts on the baffle through the receiver, causing the position of the baffle relative to the nozzles U1 / U2 to change. The decompression bleed air from the air source is supplied to the amplification relay, and is also supplied to one of the nozzles U1 / U2. The pressure drop due to the movement of the baffle through the nozzle is sensed by the amplification relay. The amplification relay outputs a signal proportional to the pressure drop across the nozzle to the actuator. Due to the movement of the actuator, the lever connected to it causes a change in the tension of the feedback spring. This tension acts on the baffle to move it to a new position, where the force generated by the spring and the applied pressure signal are balanced.
