FT12 cast iron float / hole steam trap for high displacement applications
The Spirax Sarco FT12 trap is a relatively unique steam trap. It has a fixed hole that can discharge a large amount of condensate when the pressure difference is below 4 bar. In addition, it has a float mechanism inside it to handle different amounts of condensate. And select the corresponding discharge hole according to the minimum displacement to avoid wasting steam.

Introduction to the Spirax Sarco FT12 trap
The Spirax Sarco FT12 trap is made of cast iron with a diameter of DN150 (6 ") and flange connection. It is mainly used in low pressure drop and high load sugar industry systems.
Selection of Spirax Sarco FT12 Trap
FT12 trap has a device that combines a fixed hole with a floating ball mechanism. There is therefore a minimum flow to ensure that steam does not leak. The minimum displacement is the percentage of the maximum hot condensate displacement shown in the displacement graph.
Example: The maximum displacement of condensate at a pressure difference of 3 bar is 85000k g / h, and the minimum displacement is 57000k g / h. Types B, C or D can pass the maximum displacement. But the minimum displacement of Type B is 49000k g / h, and the minimum displacement of Type C and D are 62000k g / h and 85000k g / h, respectively. Therefore, in this example, FT12-B is selected, and the minimum displacement is 49000kg / h.
Spirax Sarco FT12 Trap Safety Information, Installation and Maintenance
For details, refer to the Installation and Maintenance Guide (IM-P084-02) provided with the product. Note: The trap should be installed horizontally in a suitable position. A typical installation is shown in the left figure, and appropriate stop valves are installed on the front and back. Easy to repair or replace.
WARNING: The valve body / bonnet gasket contains a stainless steel support ring. Handle it carefully to avoid injury.
Spirax Sarco FT12 trap working
The correct selection of traps is an important factor to ensure the condensate drainage of the equipment. For selection details, see the relevant section above.
The fixing holes (A, B, C, D) can pass a certain amount of condensate under a given pressure difference, but the load must be continuous. If the amount of condensate is higher than the maximum value shown in the figure, a separate float mechanism can provide additional displacement. Therefore, it should be properly selected to ensure that the amount of condensate in the equipment is between the maximum and minimum values shown in the figure.
