Metering classification - focus on microfluidic control technology

1. Scientific measurement

Scientific measurement mainly refers to basic, exploratory, and advanced quantitative scientific research, such as measurement units and unit systems, measurement standards, standards, physical constants, and error theory and data processing. Scientometrics is usually the main task of the National Institute of Metrology.

2. Engineering measurement

Engineering measurement, also known as industrial measurement, refers to practical measurement in various engineering and industrial enterprises. For example, about energy, raw material consumption, process monitoring, and testing of product quality and performance. The measurement of engineering involves a wide range of measures, which is a measure generally carried out by all walks of life.

3. Legal measurement

Legal measurement is to ensure public safety, national economic and social development, according to the needs of the legal system, technology and administrative management, the government or official authorization to conduct mandatory management, including measurement units, measuring instruments (especially measurement standards, standards) ), measurement methods and measurement accuracy (or uncertainty) and the professional skills of the measurement personnel have clear regulations and specific requirements.

From the actual test point of view, the legal measurement is mainly related to the protection of conflicts such as security protection, medical and health, environmental monitoring and trade settlement, or mandatory measurement in areas requiring special trust. For example, about scales, pressure gauges, electricity meters, water meters, gas meters, sphygmomanometers, and blood alcohol levels (drivers and high-altitude workers are not allowed to drink alcohol before taking up their jobs).

The above classification of measurement is relative. Some people refer to scientific measurement as basic measurement, while engineering measurement and legal measurement are collectively referred to as application measurement. This seems to be more general, but it actually creates confusion. Because the particularity of legal measurement is unmatched by engineering measurement; the two must be treated separately and cannot be compared.
