Introduction to Sealing of Stainless Steel Butterfly Valve by Adding Gasket under Packing

If the stainless steel butterfly valve opens and closes frequently (such as 100,000 to 300,000 times a year), this will undoubtedly increase the use and maintenance cost of stainless steel butterfly valve. One way is to add a washer under the filler of stainless steel butterfly valve and a spring under the washer (the pre-tightening force of the spring needs to be calculated). When the filler wears out, the filler will be re-tightened due to the action of the spring to seal it. At present, this method can only be used to open and close 500-1 million times without leaking. It needs to be used in the annual overhaul to re-press the packing cover, which can only reduce the maintenance in peacetime.

Another way is to choose hydraulic and pneumatic sealing technology, change the original design idea of stainless steel butterfly valve, use cylinder sealing sliding ring at the filler, and increase type 0 sealing ring (the number of sliding ring and type 0 sealing ring can be determined only by calculating friction force and sealing specific pressure). By using this method, the stainless steel butterfly valve can be opened and closed 2 million times without leakage, but the type 0 seal ring needs to be aged and used for only 5 years, at the same time, the cost is high.
