Classification of Measurements - Focus on Microfluidic Control Technology
1. Scientific measurement
Scientific measurement mainly refers to basic, exploratory, and proactive measurement scientific research, such as measurement units and system, measurement standards, standards, physical constants, and error theory and data processing. Scientific measurement is usually the main task of the national measurement scientific research unit.
2. Engineering measurement
Engineering metrology, also known as industrial metrology, refers to practical measurement in various engineering and industrial enterprises. For example, regarding the consumption of energy, raw materials, monitoring of process flow, and testing of product quality and performance. Engineering measurement involves a wide range of measures, which is a measurement commonly carried out in all walks of life.
3. Legal measurement
The measurement of legal system is to ensure public safety, national economy and social development. According to the requirements of legal system, technology, and administrative management, the government or the official authorizes the measurement of mandatory management, including the measurement units and measuring instruments (especially the measurement standards and standards ), measurement methods and measurement accuracy (or uncertainty), as well as the measurement staff's professional skills, have clearly defined and specific requirements.
Judging from the actual test, legal system measurement mainly involves compulsory measurement in areas such as security protection, medical and health care, environmental monitoring, and trade settlement, etc., as well as areas requiring special trust. For example, on the measurement of scales, pressure gauges, electric meters, water meters, gas meters, sphygmomanometers, and alcohol content in the blood (the driver and high-altitude operators must not drink alcohol before taking jobs).
The above classification of measurement is relative. Some people call scientific measurement as basic measurement, while engineering measurement and legal measurement are collectively referred to as application measurement. This seems to be more general, but it actually causes confusion. Because the speciality of legal system measurement is not comparable to engineering measurement; both must be treated separately and cannot be compared.
