ASCO solenoid valve working principle
The solenoid valve has two basic functional units: A. Electromagnetic coil (electromagnet) and magnetic core, B contains one or several holes in the valve body. When the electric coil is energized or de-energized. Operation of the core will cause fluid to pass through the valve body or be severed. ASCO RED-HAT valve, the solenoid is directly mounted on the valve body, the core is enclosed in a sealed tube, forming a compact, compact combination.
In a direct-acting valve, when the solenoid is energized, the core directly opens the normally closed hole or closes the hole of the normally open valve, and the valve will operate within the rated maximum pressure range from OPSI to its maximum.
The force required to open the valve is proportional to the hole size and fluid pressure. As the hole size increases, the required force also increases. To open the large hole and keep the size of the electromagnetic coil small, a pilot solenoid valve should be used.
Pilot operated valve
These valves can operate a pilot hole and a bypass hole using line pressure. When the solenoid is de-energized, the pilot hole is closed, and the pressure of the line is applied to the top of the piston or diaphragm through the bypass hole to provide a seat force to close the valve tightly.
When the solenoid is energized, the core opens the pilot hole and eliminates the pressure on the top of the piston or diaphragm through the outlet of the valve. The line pressure itself pushes the diaphragm or piston away from the main hole and opens the valve.
Two structures are available:
A: Floating diaphragm or piston type, the valve needs a minimum pressure drop to keep the valve open.
B: Suspended diaphragm or piston, mechanically kept open by the electromagnetic coil core. The valve differential pressure is even, or remains open.
Manual reset valve
The manual reset method must be manually locked to the locked position. Depending on the structure, the handle will return to the original position only when the solenoid is energized or de-energized.
