The friction pair generally chooses a soft and hard pair. At present, carbon-graphite is mostly used for soft rings. There are many kinds of hard ring materials. Only in special cases, such as solid particles in the medium, crystallization or high-viscosity fluids, hard-to-hard pairing is used. When a soft and hard pair is selected, the width of the hard ring end face is wider than the soft ring width, and is not limited in the hard-to-hard material.
In order to reduce the possibility of leakage and mechanical impurities entering the sealing end face, a built-in internal flow sealing structure is used as much as possible.
The sealing member selects a material with good thermal conductivity as a moving ring to dissipate more heat and lower the temperature of the sealing end face.
In order to ensure the overall strength and rigidity of the sealing ring, the wall thickness of the ring should not be too thin. For materials with good thermal conductivity, increasing the thickness of the ring is advantageous for heat dissipation, and the thickness of the material with poor thermal conductivity can be smaller.
For the seal ring with higher pressure, it should be designed separately from the mechanical point of view, and if necessary, take reinforcement measures. The shape of the ring is axisymmetric to reduce its asymmetrical mechanical deformation and thermal deformation.
The width of the sealing end face is an important parameter and should be considered comprehensively.
