Five main differences between the instrument "calibration" and "certification"
In the field of instrumentation such as electromagnetic flowmeters, magnetic flap level gauges, pressure gauges, vortex flowmeters, etc., the two terms of “calibration” and “verification” are often involved. What are the main differences between them?
1. “Calibration” is not legal, and it is an act of voluntary traceability of enterprises; “certification” has legality and is a law enforcement act in the scope of legal measurement management.
2. "Calibration" is mainly used to determine the indication error of the measuring instrument; "Verification" is a comprehensive assessment of the measurement characteristics and technical requirements of the measuring instrument.
3. The basis of “calibration” is the calibration specification and calibration method. It can be formulated as a unified rule or on its own; the basis for “certification” must be the verification procedure.
4. “Calibration” does not judge whether the measuring instrument is qualified or not, but when necessary, it can be determined whether a certain performance of the measuring instrument meets the expected requirements; “verification” is to judge whether the measuring instrument is qualified or not.
5, "Calibration results" is usually issued a calibration certificate or calibration report; "certification results" qualified certification certificate, unqualified failure to issue a notification.
