Advantages of vortex flowmeter and performance comparison of throttling differential pressure flowmeter

Advantages of Vortex Flowmeters Compared to throttling differential pressure flowmeters, vortex flowmeters have the following advantages.
 
    1The structure is simple, firm, and easy to install and maintain. No need for a pressure guiding tube and a three-valve group to reduce leakage, blockage and freezing.
    2 The accuracy is high, generally ± (1 ~ 1.5)% R.
    3 The measuring range is wide, and the caliber is reasonably determined, and the range can reach 20:1.
    4 The pressure loss is small, about 1/4 to 112 of the throttle type differential pressure flowmeter.
    5 Output pulse signal proportional to the flow rate, no zero drift.
    6 Within a certain range of Reynolds number, the output frequency is not affected by fluid properties (density, viscosity) and composition, that is, the meter factor is only related to the shape and size of the vortex and the shape of the pipe.
    (2) Limitations of vortex flowmeter
    1 is sensitive to mechanical vibration of pipelines and should not be used in places with strong vibration.
    The larger the 2 caliber, the lower the resolution, and the general full-tube flowmeter is used for DN400 or less.
    3 When the fluid temperature is too high, the sensor is still difficult, and the general fluid temperature is ≤420 °C.
    4 When the fluid has pressure pulsation or flow pulsation, the indication value is greatly high, and the influence is large, so it is not suitable for pulsating flow.
    (3) Advantages of throttling differential pressure flowmeter
    The standard orifice plate structure in the 1-flow differential pressure flowmeter is easy to copy, simple and firm, stable and reliable in performance, and low in price. It can be used without real-flow calibration, which is rare in flow meters.
    2 A wide range of applications. It can be applied to all single-phase fluids as well as partial mixed-phase flows such as gas-solid, gas-liquid, solid-liquid and so on.
    3 high temperature and high pressure large diameter and small flow are applicable.
    4 is not sensitive to vibration and has excellent anti-interference ability.
    (4) Limitation of throttling differential pressure flowmeter
    1 Measurement accuracy is moderate in the flowmeter. Due to the intricacies of many factors, accuracy is difficult to improve.
    2 The range is narrow. Because the meter signal (differential pressure) and the flow rate are square, the general range is only 3:1 to 4:1.
    3 On-site installation conditions are required to be high. If long straight pipe sections (referring to orifice plates and nozzles) are required, it is generally difficult to meet.
    4 The pressure piping between the throttling device and the differential pressure display instrument is a weak link, which is prone to leakage, blockage and freezing, signal distortion and other faults.
    The integrated throttle type differential pressure flowmeter developed in recent years, although there are still pressure piping, is less than 1m in length, thus reducing the defects in this respect.
    5 pressure loss is large (refer to the orifice plate, nozzle).
