Introduction to Types and Selection Guidelines of Globe Valves

The commonly used globe valves are as follows:
1) Through Globe Valve
2) Direct current globe valve: In direct current or Y-shaped globe valve, the flow passage of the valve body is diagonal to the main flow passage, so that the damage degree of flow state is smaller than that of conventional globe valve, so the pressure loss through the instrument valve is also correspondingly smaller.
3) Angular globe valve: In angular globe valve, the fluid only needs to change direction once, so that the pressure drop of the valve passing through the instrument is smaller than that of the conventional globe valve.
4) Plunger globe valve: This type of globe valve is a variant of conventional globe valve. In this instrument valve, the disc and seat are usually designed on the basis of plunger principle. The valve disc is polished into a plunger connected with the valve stem, and the seal is realized by two elastic sealing rings sleeved on the plunger. The two elastic sealing rings are separated by a ring, and the sealing rings around the plunger are firmly pressed by the load applied on the valve cover by the cover nut. Elastic sealing rings can be replaced, and can be made of a variety of materials. The instrument valves are mainly used for "on" or "off", but with special plungers or special rings, they can also be used to regulate flow.

Guide to Globe Valve Selection
The stem axis of the globe valve is perpendicular to the sealing surface of the valve seat. Stem opening or closing stroke is relatively short, and has a very reliable cut-off action, making this instrument valve very suitable for medium cut-off or regulation and throttling use. Once the valve disc of globe valve is open, the contact between the seat and the sealing surface of the valve disc is no longer possible, and the valve has a very reliable cut-off action. This instrument valve is very suitable for the cut-off or adjustment of the medium and throttling use. Once the globe valve is open, there is no contact between its seat and disc sealing surface, so the mechanical wear of its sealing surface is less. Because most of the globe valve seats and discs are easier to repair or replace sealing elements, it is not necessary to remove the entire instrument valve from the pipeline, which is for instrument valves and pipes. Wire welding in one is very suitable. The flow direction of medium through such instrument valves has changed, so the flow resistance of globe valves is higher than that of other instrument valves.
The commonly used globe valves are as follows:
1) Angular globe valve; in angular globe valve, the fluid only needs to change direction once, so that the pressure drop through the instrument valve is smaller than that of the conventional globe valve.
2) Direct-current globe valve; In direct-current or Y-shaped globe valve, the flow passage of the valve body is diagonal to the main flow passage, so the damage degree of flow state is smaller than that of conventional globe valve, so the pressure loss through instrument valve is also correspondingly smaller.

3) Plunger globe valve: This type of globe valve is a variant of conventional globe valve.
