Most magnetic materials are iron-containing compounds

Most magnetic materials are iron-containing compounds. This is correct because magnets are mostly mixtures. The atomic structures of cobalt and nickel are special. The atoms themselves have magnetic moments. The arrangement of these mineral molecules in the ferrite block is disordered. The mutual influence of the magnetic domains does not show magnetism, but when the external force (such as a magnetic field) guides the molecules to align in the same direction, the magnetism appears, which is commonly known as the magnet.
Ferric tetroxide is a magnetic black crystal, commonly known as magnetic iron oxide, which is a complex oxide in which 1/3 is Fe2+, 2/3 is Fe3+, and Fe3O4 can be regarded as a compound formed of FeO, Fe2O3.
Ferrous tetroxide is a black crystal, which is heated to a melting point (1594±5°C) and decomposed at the same time. The relative density of the cutting magnet is 5.18, and it has good magnetic properties. Therefore, it is also called “magnetic iron oxide”. It is the main component of naturally occurring magnetite and is easily oxidized into iron oxide in the air under humid conditions. Insoluble in water, soluble in acid. Modern tests have shown that it is actually a mixed valence compound of iron, and the chemical formula should be FeIIFeIII [FeIIIO4]. In magnetite, since Fe2+ and Fe3+ are basically arranged in disorder at the octahedral position, electrons can rapidly transfer between the two oxidation states of iron, so the ferric oxide solid has excellent conductivity. Iron trioxide can be prepared by heating iron in steam or by reducing iron oxide at 400C with hydrogen. Ferric tetroxide is used as a pigment and polishing product. Magnetic iron oxide can be used to make recordings, video tapes and telecommunications equipment.
