Bearing unit seal design and failure form description
How does the seal fail? The third-generation hub bearing unit is structurally integrated with the bearing housing and the flange, which greatly improves the rotation accuracy, reliability, assemblability and ease of maintenance. Due to the durability and high reliability requirements of automotive bearings, avoiding failures other than raceway fatigue failure is also a focus of the third generation of hub bearing unit design. Seal failure is one of the more common forms of failure, which can lead to: (1) external pollutants such as sediment, dust and water vapor invade the bearing, causing abnormal noise in the bearing and accelerating the wear of the channel and the steel ball. Frustration occurs on the surface of steel balls and channels; (2) Internal grease leaks to the outside, causing poor lubrication and affecting product life; (3) If grease leaks onto the brake disc or brake drum, it will cause braking ability. Falling or failing, the consequences are very serious. It can be seen that in order to exert its good performance, the third-generation wheel bearing unit needs to constantly improve the design of the seal.
