1 The oil seal used for hydraulic pumps and motor journals not only requires that the roughness of the sliding surface is within 0.25 m of Ra, but also requires that the surface be plated with hard chrome. In the specific use, the diameter of the lip of the oil seal needs to be appropriately adjusted according to the specific conditions. The swaying spring force makes it moderately tight, and a mounting sleeve or shim is used to protect the sealing ring during installation so that the lips are not curled or twisted, causing the spring to slip out.
2 The inner surface of the cylinder barrel is commonly used for rolling processing method, which not only improves the surface roughness, but also makes the surface cold-hardened, which is beneficial to prolong the service life of the sealing ring. In addition, the use of pressure, the length and type of sliding surface have a great influence on the service life. Therefore, the time for “checking” should be determined based on these conditions.
3 It is required that the sealing surface be in good lubrication condition to prevent dirt from intruding. The use of oils up to the required cleanliness level and proper installation methods are also necessary conditions.
