Displacement flowmeter - flow measurement method and instrument selection instructions

Volumetric flowmeters, also known as positive displacement flowmeters, referred to as PD flowmeters or PDFs, are a class of precision in flowmeters. It utilizes a mechanical measuring element to continuously divide the fluid into a single known volume portion, and measures the total volume of the flow volume based on the number of times the metering chamber successively and repeatedly fills and discharges the volume of the fluid. PD flow meters generally do not have a time reference, and additional means of measuring time is required to obtain instantaneous flow values. The fixed displacement measurement method dates back to the 18th century and entered the general commercial application in the 1930s.
