1 vortex flowmeter working principle
 
If the fluid does not flow in the pipeline, no vortex will be formed. Once the fluid begins to flow and reaches a certain flow rate, vortices will gradually form downstream of the retaining body. These vortices are alternately separated on both sides of the retaining body and carried away by the fluid. A high pressure and low pressure zone is formed downstream of the block, and a phenomenon called "Carmen Vortex Street" appears. These pressure differences are perfectly matched to the frequency of the vortex and are accurately measured by mechanical sensors. The distance between the two vortices corresponds to the specific volume of the fluid. Therefore, the total flow rate can be calculated by counting the passing vortices, and the higher the flow rate, the higher the frequency of the fluid is measured.
 
2 structure of vortex flowmeter
Each vortex flowmeter has a stop that is mounted in the center of the pipe. The block is an obstacle that interferes with the fluid. A downstream of the block is a mechanical sensor that records the slightest differential pressure produced by the flowing fluid. A temperature sensor is added to the sensor to add functionality, and this configuration plus a built-in flow calculator calculates the mass flow and volume flow as a function of temperature.

4 application of vortex flowmeter
The vortex flowmeter is widely used in our factory to measure a variety of fluids. It can be used for raffinate oil, pulverized oil and gasoline with dispersed and uniform micro-bubbles. It can be used for two-component fluids of benzene and water which are insoluble in each other. The vortex flowmeter detection component has high sensitivity and is easily affected by dirt, harmful substances and particulate matter. These media also cause wear to the vortex generator, so the measured medium should be clean and free of particles.
 
The vortex flowmeter is used in many constant pressure and reforming units in our factory. It mainly measures the amount of oil in and out of the pipeline, gas volume and water volume. The vortex flowmeter needs to set internal parameters when it is used in detail. The main setting is: 1 The meter factor corresponding to the caliber. 2 Setting of the medium and setting of the compensation method. 3 small signal removal. 4 If there is current output, you need to set the flow value corresponding to the maximum current. The vortex flowmeter does not need heat insulation, and is not affected by fluid gravity, temperature, pressure, and viscosity. It is not easy to leak, and there is no flow dead zone and maintenance-free. Therefore, the use of vortex flowmeter can fully meet the requirements of measurement conditions, with higher accuracy and stability.
 
5 Installation Precautions and Maintenance
Vortex flowmeters can be installed indoors or outdoors, avoiding vibration sources as much as possible. Use a shielded cable or a low-noise cable connection between the sensor and the converter. If installed in a well, a hydrophobic sensor should be used to prevent flooding. The vortex flowmeter can be installed horizontally, vertically or obliquely on the pipe and the media must be filled with piping. In some applications, the speed is too low to form a detectable vortex, but the vortex flowmeter can be used to increase the speed. Therefore, the sensor should be equipped with a length of straight pipe on the upstream and downstream, which will not affect the measurement. Precision. However, when measuring liquids and gases, they are installed at high points in the pipeline to prevent the generation of bubbles and condensate.
 
Routine maintenance method of vortex flowmeter: 1 Before commissioning, make sure that the wiring is correct, the grounding is good, then the power can be sent, and then the meter factor is set. 2 Cleaning, inspection and re-calibration of the vortex flowmeter during maintenance. 3 Check the status of the meter at ordinary times. 4 Check the filter smoothly or not in time, otherwise it will seriously reduce the flow.
