Solenoid valves that do not require power are invented by scientists
Developed by Christian Bald Senior Scientists and Engineers Dan Eriksen Riise DTU Series (Denmark) presents their latest invention: three-way valve to control the flow of fluid through a magnetic substance that is attracted by an external magnet when reaching a certain temperature. The design is promising and the group is now looking for a partner in the industry who is willing to join this work.
Prof. Barr is a senior scientist in the Department of Fuel Cells and Solid Chemistry. He mainly has magnetic refrigeration engineering. Magnetic refrigeration is a kind of energy-saving and high-efficiency cooling technology that can greatly save the long-term use of electricity. Through this, Christian Barr has knowledge of the Curie temperature of different substances.
The materials that switch between the Curie temperatures are magnetic and non-magnetic. This property motivates the group to create a diverter valve controlled by a magnet.
