ALICO Systems is a privately held small business, a general contractor for the US Department of Defense and a commercial manufacturer of advanced wireless and sensor products. The company was founded in March 1996 and is the original company of ALICO Consulting. The first project of ALICO Systems was to develop a system architecture for a corporate IT system of a Fortune 500 company. During 1998 and 1999, ALICO conducted a number of consulting projects for the Y2K region for clients in the medical IT field.
Since May 2002, ALICO has undergone a transition from consulting to system-oriented companies, changing the company name from “ALICO Consulting Inc” to “ALICO Systems Inc”. Originally focused on wireless and network services, it is still a major part of ALICO Systems' portfolio today. ALICO Systems has been working on a number of different product development projects in the military and commercial sectors. Since 2006, ALICO Systems has begun to add products by introducing FCC-certified commercial broadband wireless product lines. During 2008, ALICO Systems received two US government contracts to develop low-cost satellites on mobile devices. This low-cost satellite mobile technology is expected to be the key to ALICO's future business plans.
