Actus Manufacturing, Nicholson Corporation (aka aka Actus Manufacturing) was founded in 1953 by John A. Nicholson and was originally a distributor of Deutz in the United States. In the 1960s, Actus Manufacturing began to increase the development and production of industrial control products. The first linear and rotating electromechanical brakes, in the 1980s, Actus Manufacturing developed a new portable engine that was used in the traffic control industry, and subsequently expanded its product range to produce diesel engines and control systems for production actuators and control design.
