Description of the definition and classification of the regulating valve

Definition of regulating valve
The regulating valve, also known as the control valve, is the device used in the process control system to change the flow of the fluid. The International Electrotechnical Commission's IEC defines a regulating valve (known as the Control Valve in foreign countries) as: "The terminal component formed by the power operated device in the industrial process control system. It includes a valve component with a change in the internal fluid flow rate. The valve body member is in turn coupled to one or more actuators. The actuator is responsive to signals from the control member. It can be seen that the regulating valve is composed of two parts: an actuator and a valve member.

Regulating valve classification

There are many types of regulating valves. With the continuous improvement of the process and performance of various types of complete sets of equipment, the types of regulating valves are still increasing, and there are many classification methods.
First, classified by driving method
Manual adjustment valve
2. Electric control valve
3. Pneumatic control valve
4. Self-operated regulating valve

Second, according to the nominal diameter classification
1. Small diameter regulating valve DN≤40
2. Medium diameter regulating valve DN50~300
3. Large diameter regulating valve DN≥350

Third, according to the nominal pressure classification
1. Vacuum regulating valve Working pressure is lower than standard atmospheric pressure
2. Low pressure regulating valve PN≤1.6MPa
3. Medium pressure regulating valve PN2.5~6.4MPa
4. High pressure regulating valve PN10~80MPa
5. Ultra high pressure regulating valve PN>80MPa

Fourth, according to the media working temperature classification
1. High temperature regulating valve t>450°C
2. Medium temperature regulating valve 120°C≤t≤450°C
3. Normal temperature regulating valve 29°C≤t≤120°C
4. Low temperature regulating valve -100 °C ≤ t ≤ -29 ° C
5. Ultra-low temperature regulating valve t<-100°C

5. Classification according to the material of the valve body
1. Non-metallic material regulating valves such as ceramic regulating valves, FRP regulating valves, plastic regulating valves...
2. Metal material regulating valve, such as cast steel regulating valve, stainless steel regulating valve, Hastelloy regulating valve, Monel alloy regulating valve...
