At present, China's imported gear pumps are many times higher than domestic gear pumps, but foreign gear pumps do have excellent performance, which makes the domestic gear pump industry unmatched. Of course, "Made in China" has also swept the world, and the pump industry is no exception. Compared with the western pump industry, the domestic gear pump industry has both advantages and certain gaps.
    Compared with the western gear pump industry, the domestic pump industry has two major advantages:

    On the one hand, China's labor force has less wages than in the West, and most companies recruit workers from other places to reduce costs. The cost of leasing a factory or building a factory is lower than that of a Western factory. Low cost is the competitive advantage of China's gear pumps.

    On the other hand, the rapid growth of China's construction, petroleum, petrochemical and environmental protection markets and major water transfer projects have also provided important support for the development of China's pump industry. It can be said that China's continued growth in market space is a prerequisite for China's pump industry to maintain its advantages.

    Compared with the western gear pump industry, there are still a lot of gaps and shortcomings in China's pump industry:

    The first is that the design ability can't keep up. Some state-owned large enterprises in China can currently produce parts for overseas pump companies. These companies have advanced computer data control machining centers and CNC machine tools, computer-aided design, three-coordinate measurement and other equipment. However, these devices are rarely used for the processing of domestic products. This also hinders the improvement of the design capabilities of China's pump industry. Therefore, the design capability of most domestic gear pumps can only meet the domestic market.

    Once again, the domestic gear pump processing technology is backward. Although some of China's pump manufacturing companies have modern equipment, they can achieve automatic operation, and even the Western foundry companies are dwarfed. However, most companies have outdated equipment and a harsh working environment. Cast steel and cast iron materials are wasted in the production process.

    At present, many gear pump processing enterprises in China have insufficient technological innovation capabilities. The introduction of advanced technology is rarely done again, and as a result, it is difficult for pump companies to export their products to the Western market.

    The state has also formulated some policies to solve the problems in the wheel pump industry. The policy of market-for-technology was put forward, and cooperation with foreign parties was carried out in the form of “transfer technology, joint design, cooperative manufacturing”, etc., while ensuring that domestic enterprises have sufficient color separation ratio to promote domestic enterprises to master complete R&D and manufacturing technologies. In this situation, China's gear pump industry should seize the opportunity and strive to catch up.
