Feasibility and necessity of electropolishing for sanitary pipe fittings

Introduction of sanitary pipe fittings
   Electrolytic light is one of the methods for removing scale. Compared with chemical pickling, there are many significant advantages in the method of electrically descaling. The metal wear is less, the electrolysis process is faster, and a higher quality surface can be obtained.

   Two methods of applying DC electrolysis to treat steel are known:

   1 cathode method, often used to remove oxide scale on the surface of carbon steel;
   2 Anode method, mainly used to remove oxide scale on the surface of stainless steel. Electrolytic Light-Cathode Method The essence of the cathode method is to use a metal immersed in an acidic electrolyte as a cathode. When the current is turned on, the basic process performed on the cathode is hydrogen ion discharge. Although the oxide film is poor in conductivity, there are a considerable number of small holes through which electric current is conducted to the surface of the base metal to discharge hydrogen ions. Atomic hydrogen reduces the insoluble high-valent iron oxide (Fe2O3Fe3O4) to a low-cost (FeO) and is easily soluble in acid, while the producer hydrogen seeps under the oxide scale and loosens and flakes it off.

    The basic process of the anodic process is electrolytic dissolution of metals, oxidation of lower oxides to higher valence oxides and precipitation of gaseous oxygen. The oxide film on the steel is bonded to the base metal so that the electrolyte is hard to permeate. When the steel is electrolyzed by the anode method, an acid solution having a good conductivity or an acidified solution of a salt may be used as the electrolyte. The conductivity of the conductive solution of the electrolyte is determined by its concentration. The conductivity generally increases as the concentration of the electrolyte increases, so the number of ions transferred increases. However, this increase begins only after a certain concentration of solution has begun to appear to reduce the conductivity. Factors that reduce conductivity; the rate of ion motion is reduced by the repressive action of ionic charge interactions. As the concentration increases, the viscosity of the solution is increased, which also increases the resistance of the ion motion; and reduces its speed. The degree of dissociation of the electrolyte is reduced due to an increase in concentration.
